| A REMINDER OF THE MANY GREAT NEIGHBORS WE HAVE IN THE MOORINGS |
| Long time Moorings resident John Hillard passed away August 26th. John and his wife Linda have lived in the Moorings since 1998. His father built a home here way back in 1971. Described as a silent hero John led a very full life and achieved milestones few of us will see. One example, in 1946 a young John was recognized as the first military dependent to travel to Europe after World War II. To read about his fascinating journey check the link below (it’s a really interesting story): https://cardinalnews.org/2025/05/07/a-virginia-cadet-in-the-cosmos-john-r-hilliards-quiet-mission/ John was a proud graduate of Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in Virginia. He served 23 years in USAF, his parents built a home here in the Moorings in 1971. John and Linda moved here from Maryland in 1998 to care for his aging father, Lt Col Robert C. Hilliard. His father passed the same year, but they decided to remain. John served as president of the Moorings HOA and volunteered for more than 20 years at Patrick SFB and Cape Canaveral as media escorts and VIP tours. |
